Medico-legal reports and Medicare charges
Most personal injury cases require medico-legal reports to be obtained to assess the extent of your injuries. In money you have claimed on Government benefits during the course of your case, such as medicare, Centrelink or WorkCover is repayable at the end of your case
Legal Fees
Legal fees are the total amount of your legal fees charged. If the at fault insurer is required to pay you standard legal costs, Bold Lawyers will only charge what the insurer pays towards your costs, plus GST, compared to a firm that can charge up to 50% of your total compensation

When does the CTP insurer pay my legal costs
The Queensland Government has put in place thresholds that regulate how much an insurance company pay’s towards your legal costs.
The thresholds are set by the date of your injury. For example if your injury occurred after 1 July 2015, an injured person needs to be awarded damages of more than $71,730 to be awarded standard legal costs.
In our experience most personal injury firms will charge a gap fee in addition to what your insurer pays. Depending on the lawyer, the gap fee means that you may loose up to 50% of your compensation in legal fees.
What happens if I don’t receive an award of standard legal costs from the insurer?
If you do not have significant injuries or have not had time off work because of your injury, your insurance company may not be required to pay ‘standard legal costs’.
For example if a persons injury occurred after 1 July 2015 and they settled their case for $50,000, the insurance company is only required to pay a minimal amount towards legal costs.In this situation, we negotiate a maximum fee at the outset of your case.
The payment of the agreed fee will only be required when you receive a payment of compensation that doesn’t reach the standard cost threshold; and Bold Lawyers have completed the agreed work
